The Food Loft Community Manager

Updated May 4, 2020

*This is initially a part-time position, but is envisioned to scale up to full-time based on specific member retention targets.

We realize this is an unprecedented time, especially for coworking providers in the age of social distancing. But, we know the future for office spaces of all kinds will be remarkably different than it has been. And we have many ideas for how The Food Loft can adapt to provide a coworking space that keeps entrepreneurs safe and gets businesses back to work. We’re looking for a smart and energetic Community Manager to help us realize that vision.

The Food Loft is a first-of-its-kind coworking space focused on startups and small companies within the food, foodtech and media landscapes. The Loft offers month-to-month, flexible office options, with a range of value-added services to help companies build their network, find mentors, build their community and accelerate growth. We are seeking a creative, driven individual to work as the Community Manager for the Food Loft. Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and meeting with startups in the Boston area that could be candidates for the Loft.

  • Conducting regular in-office meetings with potential members to tour the space and answer questions.

  • Planning recurring networking and community building events for members, as well as startups outside of the Loft.

  • Identifying opportunities for partnership with other startup-focused organizations in the Boston area.

  • Developing and executing marketing plans in both digital and traditional channels to drive brand awareness and attract new members.

  • Acclimating new tenants to the space and assisting with day-of move-in questions or issues.

  • Regular office admin including ordering supplies and troubleshooting office issues.

This position is initially part-time (15-20 hours per week), but will grow to full-time over an agreed-upon timeframe. Potential candidates will work to meet specific member recruitment goals in order to expand the time commitment for the position.

The Food Loft is located in an art- and light-filled loft space at 535 Albany Street in Boston’s South End. More information about the Loft can be found at http://www.thefoodloft.com.
